Alright, fellow players, let’s be honest: we’ve seen it all. From the smoky backrooms to the glittering casino floors, we’ve chased the thrill, studied the odds, and felt the sting of a bad beat. But the game is changing, and if you haven’t already, it’s time to take a long, hard look at the online casino phenomenon. We’re not talking about the casual punters here; we’re talking about experienced gamblers like yourselves, who understand the nuances of the game and appreciate a good opportunity when they see one. The rise of online casinos isn’t just a trend; it’s a fundamental shift in how we play, and understanding why they’re becoming so popular worldwide, especially here in Ireland, is crucial to staying ahead of the curve. Whether you’re a seasoned poker pro, a blackjack aficionado, or a roulette strategist, the online world offers a new dimension to your passion. And with options like goldspin available, the possibilities are vast.
Let’s face it, one of the biggest draws of online casinos is convenience. No more treks across town, no more dealing with opening hours, and no more battling for a seat at your favourite table. You can play anytime, anywhere, as long as you have a decent internet connection. This level of accessibility is a game-changer for those of us who value our time. Imagine being able to squeeze in a few hands of poker during your lunch break, or spinning the roulette wheel from the comfort of your couch. This flexibility is particularly appealing to those with busy lives or those who simply prefer the privacy and comfort of their own homes. Furthermore, online casinos often offer a wider variety of games than their brick-and-mortar counterparts, so you can explore new options and diversify your gameplay without ever leaving your seat.
Another major advantage of online casinos is the sheer volume of bonuses and promotions on offer. From welcome bonuses that can match your initial deposit to free spins, loyalty programs, and reload bonuses, the opportunities to boost your bankroll are plentiful. These bonuses can significantly increase your playing time and give you a better chance of winning. Of course, it’s crucial to read the terms and conditions carefully, as wagering requirements and other restrictions apply. But even with these conditions, the potential value of these bonuses is undeniable. Experienced gamblers know how to assess the value of a bonus and use it strategically to their advantage, maximizing their chances of success.
While bonuses are enticing, they come with strings attached. Always scrutinize the wagering requirements – the amount you need to bet before you can withdraw any winnings. Also, pay attention to game weighting; some games contribute more towards fulfilling the wagering requirements than others. For example, slots often contribute 100%, while table games might contribute less. Know these details to make informed decisions about which bonuses suit your playing style.
Online casinos boast an impressive selection of games, often far exceeding what’s available in physical casinos. You’ll find classic table games like blackjack, roulette, and poker, alongside a vast array of slots, video poker, and specialty games. The software developers are constantly innovating, creating new and exciting games with stunning graphics and immersive gameplay. Live dealer games, in particular, have revolutionized the online casino experience, bringing the atmosphere of a real casino directly to your screen. You can interact with professional dealers and other players in real-time, adding a social element that was previously missing from online play. This constant innovation keeps the experience fresh and engaging, ensuring there’s always something new to discover.
Live dealer games bridge the gap between online and offline casinos. They offer a genuine casino experience with real dealers streamed live. This adds a level of trust and transparency that some players find reassuring. The interaction with the dealer and other players enhances the social aspect, making the experience more engaging and enjoyable.
The online gambling industry has matured significantly in recent years, with stricter regulations and improved security measures. Reputable online casinos are licensed and regulated by reputable authorities, such as the Malta Gaming Authority or the UK Gambling Commission. These licenses ensure that the casino operates fairly and transparently. They also employ advanced security protocols, such as SSL encryption, to protect your personal and financial information. As experienced gamblers, you understand the importance of choosing a trustworthy and reputable casino. Always do your research, read reviews, and check for licensing information before depositing any funds. Look for casinos that prioritize responsible gambling and offer tools to help you manage your spending and playing time.
Before you deposit, check these points: licensing (MGA, UKGC, etc.), security (SSL encryption), game fairness (audited by independent bodies), and responsible gambling tools. Read reviews from other players and verify the casino’s reputation.
While online casinos might seem like a solitary pursuit, many platforms offer social features that allow you to connect with other players. You can chat with other players at the table, participate in tournaments, and even join online communities. This social interaction can add a new dimension to your gaming experience, allowing you to share tips, strategies, and experiences with like-minded individuals. Tournaments, in particular, offer a competitive environment where you can test your skills against other players and win prizes. This social aspect can make online gambling a more engaging and enjoyable experience, especially for those who miss the camaraderie of a physical casino.
The online casino landscape is constantly evolving, and for experienced gamblers, it presents a wealth of opportunities. The convenience, bonus offers, game variety, technological advancements, and improved security make online casinos an attractive option for those seeking a thrilling and rewarding gaming experience. By understanding the advantages and disadvantages, and by choosing reputable platforms, you can navigate this new world with confidence. Now is the time to embrace the future of gambling and explore the exciting possibilities that online casinos have to offer. Remember to always gamble responsibly, set limits, and enjoy the game. The Emerald Isle awaits, and the online world is ready to welcome you.

The issue of taksu is also one of honesty, for the artist and the viewer. An artist will follow his heart or instinct, and will not care what other people think. A painting that has a magic does not need to be elaborated upon, the painting alone speaks.
A work of art that is difficult to describe in words has to be seen with the eyes and a heart that is open and not influenced by the name of the painter. In this honesty, there is a purity in the connection between the viewer and the viewed.
As a through discussion of Balinese and Indonesian arts is beyond the scope of this catalogue, the reader is referred to the books listed in the bibliography. The following descriptions of painters styles are intended as a brief introduction to the paintings in the catalogue, which were selected using several criteria. Each is what Agung Rai considers to be an exceptional work by a particular artist, is a singular example of a given period, school or style, and contributes to a broader understanding of the development of Balinese and Indonesian paintng. The Pita Maha artist society was established in 1936 by Cokorda Gde Agung Sukawati, a royal patron of the arts in Ubud, and two European artists, the Dutch painter Rudolf Bonnet, and Walter Spies, a German. The society’s stated purpose was to support artists and craftsmen work in various media and style, who were encouraged to experiment with Western materials and theories of anatomy, and perspective.
The society sought to ensure high quality works from its members, and exhibitions of the finest works were held in Indonesia and abroad. The society ceased to be active after the onset of World War II. Paintings by several Pita Maha members are included in the catalogue, among them; Ida Bagus Made noted especially for his paintings of Balinese religious and mystical themes; and Anak Agung Gde Raka Turas, whose underwater seascapes have been an inspiration for many younger painters.
Painters from the village of Batuan, south of Ubud, have been known since the 1930s for their dense, immensely detailed paintings of Balinese ceremonies, daily life, and increasingly, “modern” Bali. In the past the artists used tempera paints; since the introduction of Western artists materials, watercolors and acrylics have become popular. The paintings are produced by applying many thin layers of paint to a shaded ink drawing. The palette tends to be dark, and the composition crowded, with innumerable details and a somewhat flattened perspective. Batuan painters represented in the catalogue are Ida Bagus Widja, whose paintings of Balinese scenes encompass the sacred as well as the mundane; and I Wayan Bendi whose paintings of the collision of Balinese and Western cultures abound in entertaining, sharply observed vignettes.
In the early 1960s,Arie Smit, a Dutch-born painter, began inviting he children of Penestanan, Ubud, to come and experiment with bright oil paints in his Ubud studio. The eventually developed the Young Artists style, distinguished by the used of brilliant colors, a graphic quality in which shadow and perspective play little part, and focus on scenes and activities from every day life in Bali. I Ketut Tagen is the only Young Artist in the catalogue; he explores new ways of rendering scenes of Balinese life while remaining grounded in the Young Artists strong sense of color and design.
The painters called “academic artists” from Bali and other parts of Indonesia are, in fact, a diverse group almost all of whom share the experience of having received training at Indonesian or foreign institutes of fine arts. A number of artists who come of age before Indonesian independence was declared in 1945 never had formal instruction at art academies, but studied painting on their own. Many of them eventually become instructors at Indonesian institutions. A number of younger academic artists in the catalogue studied with the older painters whose work appears here as well. In Bali the role of the art academy is relatively minor, while in Java academic paintings is more highly developed than any indigenous or traditional styles. The academic painters have mastered Western techniques, and have studied the different modern art movements in the West; their works is often influenced by surrealism, pointillism, cubism, or abstract expressionism. Painters in Indonesia are trying to establish a clear nation of what “modern Indonesian art” is, and turn to Indonesian cultural themes for subject matter. The range of styles is extensive Among the artists are Affandi, a West Javanese whose expressionistic renderings of Balinese scenes are internationally known; Dullah, a Central Javanese recognized for his realist paintings; Nyoman Gunarsa, a Balinese who creates distinctively Balinese expressionist paintings with traditional shadow puppet motifs; Made Wianta, whose abstract pointillism sets him apart from other Indonesian painters.
Since the late 1920s, Bali has attracted Western artists as short and long term residents. Most were formally trained at European academies, and their paintings reflect many Western artistic traditions. Some of these artists have played instrumental roles in the development of Balinese painting over the years, through their support and encouragement of local artist. The contributions of Rudolf Bonnet and Arie Smit have already been mentioned. Among other European artists whose particular visions of Bali continue to be admired are Willem Gerrad Hofker, whose paintings of Balinese in traditional dress are skillfully rendered studies of drapery, light and shadow; Carel Lodewijk Dake, Jr., whose moody paintings of temples capture the atmosphere of Balinese sacred spaces; and Adrien Jean Le Mayeur, known for his languid portraits of Balinese women.
Agung Rai feels that
Art is very private matter. It depends on what is displayed, and the spiritual connection between the work and the person looking at it. People have their own opinions, they may or may not agree with my perceptions.
He would like to encourage visitors to learn about Balinese and Indonesian art, ant to allow themselves to establish the “purity in the connection” that he describes. He hopes that his collection will de considered a resource to be actively studied, rather than simply passively appreciated, and that it will be enjoyed by artists, scholars, visitors, students, and schoolchildren from Indonesia as well as from abroad.
